Welcome to Savings Fun. My name is Emily, and I will be bringing you all sorts of fun savings ideas, links, and webpages that I use in my own life. Saving money is an addiction for me.
I know that saving money is a big theme in this economy, but I've been saving money my whole life. I learned from my father, who is the King of saving money while still living generously. Both my parents are teachers, so you can imagine how much they make. While my siblings and I were young my mother stayed home with us, so the 5 of us lived off my father's teaching salary. That did not stop us from eating well, going on awesome vacations, visiting family that live across the country every year, or from having everything we could need and many things that we wanted.
So, I have the background. I wont bore you with more.
Let me run through a list of ways my husband and I save and earn money now:
1) We don't spend more than we have. Credit card debt is a killer. If you can't afford it now, don't buy it.
2) We do use credit card that have no fee and have awesome rewards. Cash back card are our favorite. My dad loves the Airline miles ones. Also, credit cards are offering other incentives now, like free admission to certain places on specific dates if you have one of their cards.
3) Coupons. They are all over the web. You can get them mailed to you. You can find them in your newspaper. Don't miss out.
4) Buy things on sale. BOGO is great. Watch for sales greater than 25 % off. Especially now, store will have good sales because they have to.
5) Free samples. Oh how I love them. Find them on the web, fill out your address, a
nd they mail them to you. NO CHARGE. NO S&H FEES. It's like my birthday everyday when I check the mail.
6)
Swagbucks - this site costs nothing. You collect swagbucks mainly by searching, or if people
you refer are searching, but there are other ways as well. Then you use them to get prizes. I like the $5 amazon giftcards because then I can buy whatever I want. I've been on for almost a month and I've earned enough swag bucks for 3 cards already. That is $15 from using their search bar to do my searches.
7) Garage sales. You have to sift through the junk, but you can find crazy good deals at Gsales.
8) Thrift stores. Same as Gsales.
9) Research any big buys you have. The best price you can get of some items is hundreds of dollars on a large purchase than the average price you would pay.
10) Craigslist. Be careful and don't get scammed, but buying and selling on Craigslist can seriously save/earn you money.
Ok. More to come soon with links to my favorite sites to find freebies, coupons, and sales.
